Finished part 2 of the scrolling shooter tutorial. Looks like some of the planes are spawning off the screen. OH wells. Added some life and health stuff.

Just finished the "Scrolling Shooter (Part 1)" tutorial that comes with GameMaker: Studio. It was fairly quick and simple and generated a pretty sweet game in about an hour.
So, I completed the "BreakOut" tutorial that comes equipped with GameMaker: Studio. However, once it is done there are lots of problems and the tutorials seems to be outdated because the sound call it uses appears to be obsolete. However, I tailored the code and gave it an actual "win event" so the game ends. Also found some public domain techno for background life. :) Enjoy!
Okay, so this time I completed the tedious "GM Basics" tutorials (12). The monetization tutorial is broken as the interface doesn't have the option for "Profile" and to add the Google info... kinda lame. The end of tutorial 12 doesn't tell you what to do with the "obj_game" object (or to create it!), I just kind of inferred to. However, I put all of the code where it wanted me to. For SOME reason the balls track on the X axis with the paddles. I have a feeling it has to do with the last bit of code we put in to keep the ball from moving off of the paddles. Oh well. Here is my finished project:
Alright, so I've dedicated myself to learning GameMaker: Studio since this will be what I publish my first title in. I apparently haven't learned anything about configuring the self-extracting installer, since it is still all "GameMaker" labeled. :) It is a simple clicker game that accumulates points. It helped learn sprite utilization, level design, collision, adding sounds, and object scripting. Enjoy! Catch the Clown:
