The Let Down Okay, so after much research and probing it feels like the best decision to go ahead and change game engine plans. Game Guru is quick and powerful, but it seems geared only for FPS for the most part -- which is not going to work for this game. I went ahead and decided to drop Game Guru on this project. It is just too limited for the things I need to accomplish for this game, although it has great 3D support features which I desperately want, but not enough features that I am going to need for a top-down omni-perspective click-n-play. The TransitionNo coding or graphics have been generated so far for this project -- just brainstorming and implementation research. Thusly, I have stumbled upon GameMaker: Studio (available on Steam). This seems to cover most of the features I will need and the ability to create my own add-ins to expand on needed elements.
The biggest RED FLAG I have seen so far in my research is the ability to support video, and the existing expansion I see to support it is a TON of money I am not going to drop yet. Any quality video game is going to have intro videos, credits rolls, and cutscenes! However, since this engine seems to support everything else we can go ahead and begin the project here and program in the rest as we go! Wish me luck!
